Moxibustion, also called moxatherapy or moxaburn, is an acupuncture term. With Moxa, heat (energy) is conducted to a so-called acupuncture point. The goal is to eliminate a deficiency of chi and promote the flow of chi.
By lighting a plug of the mugwort, on top of the needle, heat is transferred to the body via the needle.
