De Traay Manuka-Kanuka honey BIO
Recommended Retail Price: €28,45
The Manuka-Kanuka honey from de Traay comes from the subtropical forests of New Zealand. The nectar of the honey is collected by the bees from the flowers of the Manuka shrub also called 'tea-tree'. De Traay has been selling pure organic Manuka for years, and Kanuka pollen was found in our honey during the last harvest. Kanuka is even less known. Kanuka, also called white tea tree, is just like Manuka, family of the tea tree.
Tea trees have been known for thousands of years among the Australian and New Zealand natives for their beneficial effects due to their special antibacterial and antifungal properties. This is also shown by research done by the University of Waikato in New Zealand that frequent intake of Manuka honey also relieves symptoms of stomach ulcers and other stomach and intestinal disorders. Applied externally, Manuka honey can also provide relief from burns and infections. The Kanuka has similar properties.
Sometimes Manuka talks about a UMF value. The higher the UMF value, the stronger the healing effect or the active enzymes that are resistant to bacteria. De Traay has been extracting Manuka honey from New Zealand for many years, long before there was a UMF (MGO) factor. UMF is a registered trademark (which therefore has to be paid for to use). This is one reason why we do not use a UMF factor, but also because we find the factor too opaque, we do not use the gradation system. De Traay had the honey tested in an independent laboratory and this shows that the Manuka-Kanuka honey has an MGO value of 100.
This dark liquid honey has a delicious specific taste. Delicious in tea, cottage cheese or just on a spoon!
If the honey crystallises, simply place the jar in warm water.
Important: Unsuitable for children under the age of 1.
Ingredients: 100 % Honey*. * Organic origin
Average nutritional value per 100g
