Cat's claw belongs to the family of Rubiaceae and is native to the jungle of Peru. It is a climbing plant that has curved thorns on the branches that resemble cat claws. In Latin, the cat's claw is called the "Uncaria Tomentosa. Uncaria, meaning "hooked at the end," refers to the thorns located at the base of the leaves. Tomentosa refers to the hairs located on the underside of the leaves.
