What is Tartar baking powder?
Tartar baking powder is a mix of tartaric acid and baking soda. Because the tartar reacts with the baking soda, you don't need to add anything acidic to your recipes to make it rise. In addition, tartar baking powder is the most natural among baking powders. Cream of tartar is tartaric acid which is converted into crystals. It looks like large sugar grains that you can find at the bottom of or cork of your wine bottle. The crystals are tasteless. When these crystals are purified, they create a white powder which is thus combined with baking powder for tartar baking powder as the name suggests.
